"Grønt er verdens primærfarge." Pedro Calderón de la Barca
Today I write in English. I might be affected by the weather and it is easier today to think and write in English. If you speak more than one language, you understand what I am talking about. :-)
It is a gray and rainy day today. I look out of the window of our design studio here at Stell. in Porsgrunn and see a whole lot of the color grey - the asphalt is gray, the neighboring building is painted in a gray tone, the car parked out front is a dark gray color. The feeling is heavy, the color gray is heavy. I am glad the trend of using gray in interiørs is beyond us. I really am!
But then as turn my head to the left and tilt my head up towards the sky, I see the color green. A tall, beautiful tree with a large crown hangs over the street. It is refreshing, my eyes relax and my wellbeing lightens. Why is the color green so powerful? I ask myself. The color green revitalizes us when we are physically, mentally or emotionally exhausted. Green is our connection to the outdoors. We find retreat and restoration from long hikes in the forest - the color green rejuvenates!
But what about using it in our homes and how? The easiest way to do so is to use paint and the safest way of doing it is by painting one accent wall. An even more dramatic way is to bring that accent wall into its surrounding planes. OR even easier - decorate with a pillow or juicy green apples in a glass bowl. You really don't need much green, just enough to lighten up!
